Come and join us for some spectacular scientific fun with our Van de Graaff machine for some shocking (literally) and hair raising (again literally!) fun. Plus other physics based wonders! There will be a finale of rockets and coke and mentos explosions in the garden. Book early as we sold out last time and numbers are very limited. This session is geared toward children 6+. However, younger (and older) children are welcome if strictly supervised. Some of them might find the big, sparking machines etc a little scary though.

Easter Fun at 1st Formby Scout Hut with slime, rockets, space and Easter-themed experiments!

Come and join Fun Science for a fizzing, popping, spectacular of a science show. There will be lots of wow-factor demonstrations, audience participation and fun and laughter. After, you can make a quick slime to take home. The show will be aimed at ages 5-12 but is suitable for ages 3+. Adults are free but please register for numbers. That doesn't mean we won't be experimenting ourselves. We'll make a variety of different slimes and each child will get to take home the slimes they have created. It will keep them entertained for hours (and you can even use it to clean your computer keyboard!)

This is a chance to drop off your children, aged 5+ (with a snack if you wish) and leave them in our capable (albeit slimy) hands.

Each day is run by highly trained Fun Scientists with enhanced DBS checks and first aid training and is jam-packed with experiments, games, crafts and explosions. The club will run on 4th, 5th, 6th April from 9am-3pm at the 1st Formby Scout Hut, Foot Path, Rosemary Lane, Formby, L37 3HB.

Tues 4th Sweet Science
Today we will be learning about acids and alkalis as we experiment to discover the perfect sherbet formula, learn about states of matter and pressure with candy floss and popcorn. We'll also look at what happens to all that sugar with the digestion game and making edible poo! Make sure to state any allergies, intolerances or dietary restrictions.

Old favourites like volcanoes combine with exploding sandwich bags, popping film cannisters, spurting lemonade geysers and fizzy drinks making for a fizzing, popping, explodingly fun day!

Come join us for science favourites - slime, rockets, Van de Graff, sherbet, candy floss and much more!

Would your child like to find out how their bodies work with lots of fun, hands-on scientific activities? This science club is suitable for 5-13yr olds and runs for 5 consecutive weeks. PLEASE NOTE YOU MUST BLOCK BOOK ALL OF THE SESSIONS OR JUST THE FREE TRIAL ONE. (Please email westlancs@fun-science.org.uk if you cannot make all the sessions or have any problems booking).

Week one, (free trial session) we look at digestion (and inevitably the results of digestion)! That means, poo and more poo! We'll make both edible and non-edible poo and each child gets to take home their own poo! You'll be grateful to know, none of it is real!!!! (Please let us know about any allergies or food issues)

Week two, we'll be finding our blindspots, creating illusions, making 3D pictures and wearing 3D and rainbow glasses,

Week three, we will be measuring our lung capacity, making a model lung and even making bogies! Ewww!

Week four, it's muscles and tendons and each child gets to make their own 'bionic' hand.

Week 5, it's blood and the heart, where children can explore their own changing heart rates with real stethescopes and even make edible blood!

Week 6 is half term so to celebrate the end of our course, we'll have a half-term science party, complete with rockets. This party will also be open to other children outside the group, creating a great chance for both home and school educated children (and parents) to mix. We may make this session longer (no extra charge)though of course you can just come for the hour if that suits.

The cost is just £30 for all 5 weeks, payable in advance. We are so sure your child will love the club, that we offer you your money back, if you are not happy after the first (paid)week. It's never happened of course!

Monday 8th August – Chemical Reactions – This day is jam packed with fizzes, bubbles and even fire! Come and join in as we make slime, mix chemicals, design and create bath bombs and then use chemical reactions to help us solve a crime.

Tuesday 9th August – Senses and Colours – Come along to our senses and colours day and learn a little more about your senses. We will be investigating rainbows, tricking our eyes and making some special scientific socks to take home.

Wednesday 10th August- Physical Reactions – Learn about physical reactions as we make it rain lemonade, test out a non-newtonian fluid, become bubble-ologists and make burning bubbles. Children will get to take part in a range of scientific experiments and will even make some reacting lava lamps to take home.

Thursday 11th August- Forces and Rockets – Fun Science is getting explosive with this session! Children will get to make mini rockets, launch rockets and get to grips with Newton’s 3rd law.

Friday 12th August – Electricity and Magnets – Did you know, magnets and electricity are very closely related? On this day we will be exploring electromagnetism and then making our own electromagnets. We will also be having fun with the Van de Graaff generator and making squishy circuits with electric play dough!
